Three questions before comparing products#
1. Internal or customer-facing?#
Automating your own company's processes and offering integrations to your customers are different problems. Customer-facing integrations need per-customer authorization, tenant isolation and an in-product experience. Make sure you're evaluating tools on the right one.
2. Who builds the integrations?#
Operations or solutions staff benefit from visual builders and prebuilt connectors.Engineers often prefer code, version control and direct API access.Customers themselves need simple, guided configuration inside your product.3. How much of the stack do you want to own?#
At one end, a platform runs everything: connectors, workflows, authorization and logs. At the other, you own everything. In between, you might hand off only authorization, or only workflow execution.

Pathfix offers two separate products that can be used independently or together.
Pathfix OAuth handles authorization, token storage, refresh and authenticated API passthrough across 350+ providers, with your own OAuth apps. It's not a unified API and doesn't supply prebuilt actions; your code calls providers' own APIs.
Pathfix Automation is an embedded API workflow engine. Workflows are built once and run in each connected user's context, with API chaining, transformations, conditions, loops, webhooks, schedules and execution monitoring.

Do we need an iPaaS if we have engineers?#
Not necessarily. Engineers can build integrations directly if authorization and execution infrastructure are handled.
